Common plumbing problems in Miami
Aging cast iron drains
Many homes built from the 1950s to the 1970s still have their original cast iron drain lines. Florida's humidity and soil speed up corrosion, so slow drains and backups under the slab are common.
Condo stacks and risers
In older mid-rise and high-rise condos, a leak in a shared drain stack or supply riser can affect several units. Repairs often need association approval, so it helps to hire a plumber who works with condo boards.
Galvanized supply lines
Older homes and additions can still have galvanized steel supply pipe, which rusts from the inside. Low pressure and discolored water are the warning signs.
Drain backups in rainy season
Heavy summer storms and a high water table push older sewer laterals and yard drains past capacity. Root intrusion makes it worse, so a camera inspection is worth it if backups repeat.
